From Athinios port to every part of Santorini
Athinios is on the west coast at the foot of the caldera cliffs. The only way out is the famous zigzag road, which is why the first minutes after a ferry arrives are so congested. Typical driving times once you are on the road:
- Fira, the capital: about 20 minutes
- Firostefani and Imerovigli: 20 to 25 minutes
- Oia: 35 to 45 minutes
- Megalochori and Pyrgos: 10 to 15 minutes
- Kamari: about 25 minutes
- Perissa and Perivolos: about 20 minutes
- Akrotiri and Red Beach: about 15 minutes
- Santorini Airport, for flight connections: about 25 minutes

2. Arrive at Athinios
Tell us your ferry company and departure port. We follow the arrival time and your driver is at the ramp with a sign with your name, even if the ferry is late.
3. Door to door
Help with luggage, an air conditioned vehicle and a direct drive to your hotel. Pay online in advance or by card or cash on arrival.

Frequently asked questions about Santorini port transfers
How can I transfer from the Santorini port to my hotel?
The easiest way is a pre-booked private transfer. Your Magic South driver waits for you on the quay at Athinios port with a sign with your name, helps with the luggage and drives you directly to your hotel in Fira, Oia, Kamari, Perissa or anywhere else on the island. Alternatives are the public bus to Fira and the taxi rank, both of which are overwhelmed when a large ferry arrives.
Is there a shuttle service available from Santorini port to Fira?
There is a public bus from Athinios to Fira that runs around ferry arrivals, but it fills up quickly and drops you at the central bus station, not at your hotel. A private transfer takes you from the ferry ramp to your hotel door in about 20 minutes at a fixed price per vehicle.
Does Santorini have two ports?
Yes. Athinios is the main ferry port where all ferries from Piraeus, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros and Crete arrive and depart. The Old Port below Fira is used only by cruise ship tenders and small boats. Magic South transfers pick you up at Athinios. Cruise passengers can take the cable car up to Fira and meet our driver there.
Can I take a water taxi from the cruise port in Santorini?
Cruise ships anchor in the caldera and passengers reach the Old Port by tender boat. From the Old Port there is no road, so you go up to Fira by cable car, on foot or by donkey path. For an excursion or transfer, we meet cruise guests at the top of the cable car in Fira.
How much is a taxi from Santorini port to Fira or Oia?
Metered taxis from Athinios usually charge around 25 to 30 euros to Fira and considerably more to Oia, and prices rise at night and with luggage. A Magic South private transfer from the port has a fixed price per vehicle, starting from 35 euros for up to 3 passengers and from 50 euros for up to 8, confirmed before you travel.
Is Uber available on Santorini?
Uber works in Santorini only as Uber Taxi, which calls a regular local taxi at meter rates, and availability at the port when a ferry arrives is very limited. A pre-booked transfer guarantees a vehicle and a driver waiting for you.
What happens if my ferry is delayed?
Ferry delays are common in the Cyclades. Give us your ferry company and departure port when you book. We follow the arrival time and the driver adjusts, so you will be met whenever the ship actually docks.
